Growing and moving on

Today I lost a friend. By trying to be introspective I have actually given myself a headache. Technically I didn’t necessarily do anything wrong. But from her POV I did.

I am feeling okay about this split and think that maybe it is for the best. Maybe we are both at the point that it is time to change, to grow and move on. Maybe we have out grown our friendship and need for one another.

I will miss my friend and am happy that she took the time to tell me what she felt went wrong. Unfortunately I am not able to go past that mark right now.

I am currently in my room with my wax burner on so there is soft light and I am going to put on some jazz and rest. Yesterday and today have been very difficult days for me and I need to center before I return to work from my long vacation.

Hookahs

Oh my goodness what a busy weekend. My relaxation has taken place in the form of my Hookah. I have been reluctant to talk about my hookah because I was afraid I might be judged. I realized that doesn’t matter. I am who I am.

For those of you who don’t know what a hookah is here’s a picture.

That is also my living room. I don’t use it in the house, but it resides on my coffee table. A hookah by definition is, “An oriental tobacco pipe with a long, flexible tube that draws the smoke through water contained in a bowl.”

Many people believe you use a hookah to smoke marijuana. Although I believe in marijuana smoking for medicinal purposes and really think that it should be legalized, I personally do not smoke it. A hookah is used with shisha, a molasses type tobacco that usually has a fruit flavor. My personal favorite are the berry flavors and mint. I use my hookah often. I find the smoke is moist and light because it is filtered through water. Luckily, it does not affect the slight case of asthma I have. I usually sit outside in the quiet of my backyard and relax. I have found a new appreciation for the quiet of my backyard and even when there are kids playing in the park behind my house. I enjoy listening to their play. I love children and they have always brought me joy. That’s why I work with them.

Back on the subject. I think hookahs have a bad reputation and have been given a bad stigma. They really are beautiful, unique and fun.

We had a small one we purchased at a smoke shop. Then this weekend we found a middle eastern woman having a yard sale that was selling a few! At a yard sale?? Awesome!! I purchased three new small ones and the large gold one and a bunch of hoses. Of course, I have cleaned and sanitized everything but what a great deal! I was very excited and had to share. Here are the other ones.

Now smoke shops. They really are strange places and honestly except for Trails I do not think I would go to one alone. I think I would want someone, my hubby or a friend, to go with me. They have a variety of strange things that fascinate as you wonder exactly what some of it is for. The one by me specifically sales everything from incense to pop. The have several brands of shisha. I have found that my favorites are Deja Vu, if I want something stronger, and Al Fakhar, for something a bit lighter depending on flavor. Coffee and coconut are not anything I will try again. The coffee is so strong it made me sick and the coconut just tastes funny. Also, I have found depending on the type, make, model of the hookah the flavor will change. Also it depends on the type of hose you use.

So that’s my take on the whole thing. I’m still learning as I go and thank God for the Internet. I swear beyond finding everything under the sun at yard sales, from a free dog to cheap hookahs, you can find anything of the Internet.
